이정모 홈페이지 재가동에 붙이는 글


한 3주 동안 다운되었던 저의 홈페이지(http://cogpsy.skku.ac.kr/)가 복구되어
재 가동되었습니다. 그동안 불편해하셨을 분들에게 사과 드립니다.

건강이 다운되어 주말 보내느라 웹활동을 못했더니
컴퓨터 작업이 고팠는지 다음을 쓰게 됩니다.

홈페이지 관련 저간의 사정을 말씀드리자면, 저의 홈페이지 서버컴퓨터가 있는 대학 내 건물의 건물 수위가 야간에 건물 전체의 전원 스위치를 내려놓으면 홈피가 다운되고 그 이후에 누군가가 가서 그 컴퓨터를 재부팅하여야 홈피가 살아나는 불편함이 있었습니다. 그래서 지난 2월말에 (2012년) 컴퓨터를 대학 밖으로 옮겨 호스팅 서비스 업체로 옮기려 했으나 사정이 여의치 않아서 그 옮기는 작업을 금년(2012년) 여름 중으로 미루고 다시 학교 내로 원위치 시켰습니다. 금년 가을이 되어야 새 위치에서 작동할 것 같습니다
 
이런 저런 일을 겪으며 그동안의 저의 인터넷 관련 삶을 돌아보게 되었습니다.
 
1970년대 초에(한국에 인터넷이 도입되기 10년 전 시점) 제가 유학중이던 대학 심리학과에서는 교내 메일 시스템이 활발히 작동하였고 (지금 시점에서 생각하면 하나도 신기한 상황이 아니지만), 심리학과 학부 2년 학생들은 (그 40 여 년 전에 이미) 심리학실험 과목을 Computer Simulation을 하며 (실제 실험실 실험과 연계하여) 수업 및 과제를 하는 상황이었습니다. 노벨 경제학상을 수상한 Herbert A. Simon의 제자 교수가 담당하는 과목이었습니다.
신기하여 그런 것을 배우며 메일 시스템을 이용하다가 귀국한 후에 메일 시스템이 작동 안하는 대학 그리고 사회 일반 상황에 적응하느라 어려움을 겪었습니다. 그러다가 80년대 초에 국내에 인터넷 시스템이 확산되고 해외 인터넷과 연결되고, 그 후에 KT의 전신(의 전신?) 회사에서 메일서비스를 국내에서 처음으로 서비스하게 되고, 하이텔인가 하는 메일 서비스 시스템 회원교육을 지금의 용산 전자상가 근처 국민은행 건물에선가 하였습니다. 그때의 저의 회원 번호가 5백 몇십번이었음이 기억납니다.
 
그렁저렁 지내다가 1995년에 성균관대학교에 인지과학 협동과정이 생기고, 인지과학 협동과정 학생이며 컴퓨터 프로그래밍 경력이 있었던 박정민 학생에 의지하여 그 당시에 오늘날 네이버와 같은 인기 시스템이던 천리안에 [인지과학 동호회] (일종의 카페)를 만들어 시작했습니다. 그 당시에는 인지과학 학생보다도 일반인들이 더 많고 열성적이었습니다 (그분들이 지금은 다 어디에 계신지 ?! 이 글 보시게 되면 연락주세요 !) 특히 한남대 철학과에 계신 민찬홍 교수님의 글 기여가 컸습니다.
 
그 후에 2000년대에 들어서 성대 학생들의 힘을 빌어 저의 홈페이지를 cogpsy.ac.kr 로 열고 (2000년 3월?) 또 새롭게 당시에 인터넷서비스의 중심으로 떠오른 Daum 시스템에 [인지과학 학생회 카페]도 생겼습니다.
 
저의 초기 홈페이지의 출발 당시에는 당시 학생들의 도움이 컸던 것으로 기억되고, 오늘날과 같은 잘 짜여진 홈페이지 구조는, 유학에서 돌아와 지금은 건국대학교 영문학과 교수로 심리학-인지과학-언어학 관련 연구를 하며 가르치는 전문기 교수가 성균관대 학생 시절에, 그리고 유학중에 그곳 학과의 홈페이지 관리자를 하며 원격 자문을 통해 이루어 놓은 것입니다. 밖으로 쉽게 드러나지 않는 수많은 홈페이지 구조 조정, 수정 작업이 그에 의해 이루어져 오늘에 이르른 것입니다.
 
 
‘앎의 나눔’ 그 자체를 즐거워하며, 홈페이지 내용을 빨리 그리고 널리 펴는 작업에 매 주당 일반 직장인의 이틀 이상의 시간을 들여 작업하였던 날들이 저의 젊은 날들의 한창 때였던 것 같습니다.
 
지금도 그 습관을 못 버리고 있고, 주 무대를 페이스북으로 옮겨 2008년 8월에 페이스북에 가입하고(https://www.facebook.com/metapsy ), 본격적인 활동은 2010년부터야 한 것 같습니다. 2000년 - 2010년 사이 기간에는 주로 저의 홈페이지 (http://cogpsy.ac.kr) 가 저의 주 활동무대였습니다. 2005년 2월부터는 네이버 블로그를 시작하여 부수 활동무대가 되었고 (http://blog.naver.com/metapsy), 네이버와 구글이 검색 작업에서 서로 존재하지 않는 듯이 취급하여 서로 인용을 안 한다는 사실을 발견하고 Google 블로그를 시작한지도 (http://korcogsci.blogspot.com/) 5년 정도 된 것 같군요. 그 후에 Academia.edu를 알게 되어 2010년에 활동을 시작하고(http://skku.academia.edu/JungMoLee), 2011년에는 그 이전에 가입했지만 그동안 잠자고 있던 트위터 아이디를(@metapsytw) 복구하여 트윗을 하기 시작했지요. 그사이에 Daum 불로그와 중앙일보(후에 MSN이 합류) 블로그를 가동하였지만 거의 활동을 못하고요.
 
 
이전에는 자료를 올리는 순서는 [홈페이지 -> 네이버블로그 -> 구글블로그 -> 페이스북 -> Academia -> 트위터] 이었는데, 요즈음은 [ Facebook -> NaverBlog -> Google Blog -> Homepage -> Academia -> Twitter] 로 바뀌는 것 같아요.
 
 
왜 6개의 웹사이트를 운영하느라 자초하여 생고생을 해야만 하는가? 하고 저 자신에게 묻는 경우가 요즈음 점점 더 자주 일어나지만, 각각의 사이트를 만들어 자료를 올린 과거 역사를 생각하자면, 그리고 그 어느 하나나 둘에 편중되어 찾을 사람들을 생각하자면 어느 것을 버리지 못하고 계속 유지하게 되어요. 무엇이든 잘 못 버리는 사람 축에 제가 속하거든요. 이 나쁜 버릇이 고쳐져야 건강이 어느 정도 좋아 질 수 있으련만!.
하여간 어쩔 수 없이 하나 둘씩 이 목록이 줄어들 것은 자명한 사실이고요
 
 
지쳐 있는데도 학교 홈페이지 밀린 자료 올리기 작업을 다시 시작을 하여야만 하는 저.
이 못된 습관! 제가 생각하기에도 한심스러워요 !
그런데 이 모든 사이트들이 이정모의 건강이 그런 웹활동을 허용 안할 때에 어찌될 지
궁금해지기도 하고요 ......
